Waiting for the symphonic season, heart of the Festival, a rich programme of concerts entrusted to the conservatories of Campania and other guest cities
Starting on Wednesday at the Cathedral with the Martucciorchestra conducted by Nicola Samale
Waiting for the symphonic season, heart of all the editions of the Festival (30 June – 31 August 2019), the Ravello Foundation proposes a new project that looks to the future, brings together education and profession, academy and territory: a rich programme of events, entrusted to the Conservatories of Music of Campania and other guest cities, extends the season to the months before and after the great concerts of Villa Rufolo.
It opens on Wednesday, April 17th in the Cathedral of Ravello, with the Conservatory of Music ‘Giuseppe Martucci‘ of Salerno, Conductor Nicola Samale, with the Requiem K626 by Mozart.
It is the spring of the “best of youth” of emerging musical realities, the one arriving in Ravello on the Easter Eve, anticipating the season of the great symphonic concerts of the 2019 Festival.
The best instrumentalists and voices of the Conservatories of Campania and beyond, pianists, guitarists, violinists, string quartets, “laboratories” of high orchestral perfection with choral and symphonic repertoires but also brass bands and jazz ensembles, will be the protagonists of a rich programme of dates that will accompany the tourist season during the months of April, May, June, September and October with almost daily appointments, mostly evening shows but also matinees.
A great organisational effort by the Ravello Foundation that at the same time supports a less seasonal tourism and offers a real opportunity to new musical talents entrusted to the baton of experienced conductors, encouraging the meeting between training and profession.
Exceptional stage for the students of the Conservatory of Music“Giuseppe Martucci of Salerno”, of the “San Pietro a Majella” of Naples,” of the “Domenico Cimarosa of Avellino”, of the “Nicola Sala” of Benevento and also of the “Benedetto Marcello” of Venice, of the “Niccolò Piccinini” of Bari”, of the “Agostino Steffani” of Castelfranco Veneto and of the “Santa Cecilia” of Rome. A vital moment of the contemporary artistic proposal, a great project for a temporary community of musicians that will perform in the sacred places of the Cathedral and the Church of Santa Maria a Gradillo with classical repertoires such as the Requiem by Mozart, the first scheduled appointment entrusted to the youth of the conservatory of Salerno with the conduction of Nicola Samale, but that will not let itself be closed inside the designated spaces, conversing with tourists and citizens in a symbolic demolition between stage and public within gardens, squares, on the Belvedere of Ravello, from the Sala dei Cavalieri in Villa Rufolo to the recently inaugurated passeggiata del Monsignore.
The most famous arias of the Neapolitan tradition together with the tributes to Bernstein, Rossini and Rota, the piano solos, the exciting sounds of brass bands and the jazz “free style”, enrich aprogramme that also includes a lyric gala with the great love duets and “competitions” of virtuosity between instruments.
The expert direction of renowned orchestra conductors will accompany the young musicians in Ravello in a promising meeting that strengthens the teaching with the training, bonds the academy with the territory and directs the “making music” of schools towards professionalism.
The project “La meglio gioventù” (The best of youth) was conceived and coordinated by Maestro Antonio Marzullo, artistic secretary of the Teatro Verdi, partner of the Ravello Festival.
The Festival is supported by the Campania Region and Mibac.
