Commissario straordinario della Fondazione Ravello
The Ravello Foundation – which I have the honour to represent – is pleased to announce the opening of this edition of the Festival 2020, with an artistic and organizational proposal, this year adds to the quality and prestige that distinguish it, the proof of a great commitment.
We are experiencing a not so easy moment of our collective and personal history and, it is in this context that the realisation of the festival, besides being at the highest of its artistic levels, is a courageous challenge, a demonstration of attachment to the cultural values of the Region and all Italy, a proof of optimism and hope for the future ahead of us, and (a proof) of administrative efficiency.
Despite starting off with delays caused by the past two weeks’ uncertain outline of the governing law, and despite being aware that this year, due to the limitations extended to international tourism, many of the historical enthusiasts of Ravello’s and most of the Festival’s outstanding beauties won’t be able to attend. However, we strongly wanted to confirm the festival, and by doing so, we managed to organize a program which, we are certain, will bring many gratifying presences to Ravello.
Furthermore, we have deemed our review also as an important occasion to reignite the productive rhythms of the Campania’s musical excellentiae, by directly including them in the billboards and by projecting them to the most important European festivals.
We have strongly heard the sense of responsibility and the duty of being protagonists, with the support of the Region of Campania, of this new beginning made of renovated cultural and musical events. And who kore than us can leverage Ravello’s – always reliable- charm to a national and international scale?
Therefore, we propose a schedule of events, relying onto the Maestro Alessio Vlad’s artistic direction, which places Ravello at the centre of the international circuit of the greatest Concerts, without neglecting our local musical excellentiae and their committed workforce.
Naturally, the schedule has been realized in accordance to the current safety and sanitary prevention regulations, which impose social distancing between spectators and, therefore, a presences’ limitation in the panoramic auditorium of Villa Rufolo.
However, we will compensate this audience’s reduction forced on us by the safety regulations anti Covid-19, with the installation of a projector screen in the Ravello’s Main Square, in order to let anyone who is interested, to enjoy the performances live, for free, with the participants being aware of the social distancing’s limits imposed by the current government law and being forbidden to any form of social gatherings.
Moreover, in order to reach out to those far-away enthusiasts, and by cultivating the so-called “Digital Humanism” which has constituted one of the arisen values throughout this pandemic, we will guarantee the free online streaming of the performances, available from the day after each event has been listed on the poster, right onto the Festival’s website.
Let’s add then another piece to the puzzle made of the Foundation’s and the Region’s cultural politics, laying the foundations for a wider and more cohesive community – especially pointing towards the fruition of events -, being aware that cohesion and solidarity are essential elements for a difficult tomorrow, that is there, still awaiting us.
Furthermore, if music is the greatest kind of magic (from J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone: “Ah, music – he said, wiping his eyes – A magic beyond all we do here!”), then we are seriously hoping to create and bring magical moments from the festival’ stage to all the people who are going to participate, either in person and digitally, from all over Italy and the world.
